The Fine Arts Department of Tongren University was founded in July 2009, and its predecessor was the Fine Art major of Art Department of Tongren University (founded in 1995). With the correct leadership of the Party and the support from each department, at present, there are two majors: Fine Arts (Normal) four-year university level, Art Design (non-normal) four-year university level. There are a total of 11 classes and more than 500 students.

The department has owned much complete teaching facilities and enhanced the construction of modern educational technology classroom with multimedia-assisted facilities. There are a variety of learning and teaching facilities: 11 teaching classrooms, 20 painting rooms, 7 multimedia classrooms, 1 skylight classroom, 1 public amphitheater, and 2 computer-assisted design rooms, which can basically meet the needs of teaching and researching of our Department.

There are 33 teachers in the department (17 teachers majoring in Fine Arts and 13 teachers majoring in Art Design), including 1 professor, 9 associated professors, 14 lecturers and 6 teaching assistants. Of all the teachers, 7 have got a master鈥檚 degree. Besides, the department has employed 2 visiting professors. All the staff have cultivated more than 700 innovative, applied talents, majoring in art education, professional designing for the society.

Since the establishment, the faculty regard professional brand as the goal to strengthen the construction of academic, professional and innovative curriculum system, to carry out the training mode of applied talents, meriting the theory, practice and local characteristics, taking advantage of legislation system. We want to strive to occupy the forefront in teaching, scientific researching and talents training.
